According to the Huffington Post, 10 of the nation’s most successful people practice meditation regularly. Harpo Productions CEO Oprah Winfrey, Ford Motor Company executive chairman Bill Ford, and Def Jam Records cofounder Russell Simmons have incorporated mindfulness into their routine. Tony Schwartz, CEO of The Energy Project, states that his 20-year commitment to mediation has resulted in more patience and reduced migraines.

Meditation brings calmness into a person’s life and thus results in developing inner peace. Because the practice involves no equipment, it easily can be completed at a person’s own leisure anywhere. For example, an individual can set aside time during their workday to meditate in a quiet space in their office or go for a long walk. The time should be spent clearing one’s mind of stressful thoughts to bring tranquility into life.

Regular practice balances the mind and body, which can reduce stress and increase productivity. It also enhances cognitive functioning and creative thinking. Other benefits of mediation include a boost in self-awareness and better sleep.
